GENERAL INFORMATION


Who is running the Stalew Pow-Wow?

Stalew Arts & Cultural Society is presenting the Stalew Pow-Wow. We are a registered, Indigenous & women-lead Non-Profit Organization and proceeds from this event go towards the facilitation of the pow-wow. This is our very first pow-wow and we are learning lots along the way! If you’d like to learn more about our non-profit, please visit www.stalew.ca.


Where is the Langley Events Centre [LEC]?

It is located on 200th street, just down the road from the offramp of Highway #1. The address is: 7888 200 St, Langley, BC V2Y 3J4

Is the Pow-wow indoors or outdoors?
The pow-wow is indoors, in the arena. The entrance is at Gates 2 & 3.

Is Parking Free?
YES! Parking is free around the entire facility. There is ample parking, such as over-flow and cargo trailer parking which is also FREE.

Is the venue accessible for people with health conditions, impairments, or disabilities?
YES! This is a large venue that has lots of disabled and designated parking available, there are also ramps, elevators and accessible access to all areas of the Pow-Wow.

Is camping available?
No, unfortunately this year camping will not available. We were not able to secure a lot to designate towards camping, however, it is something we will ensure to look into for future years. We do have host hotels available to book through with a discount until September 1st. What are accommodations options for vendors, participants and guests?

We have two host hotels available to book through with discount codes (available until September 1st) that are associated to the Pow-wow! Below is the contact information for our host hotels:

Will there be security at the event?

Yes! There will be security on patrol in all areas of the event, such as the vendors area.

Will there be first-aid on site?

Yes, first aid will be on-site at the venue throughout the entire weekend.

Will alcohol be served at the event?
No! This is a family friendly event where drugs, alcohol, harassment, abuse & discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated.

The stalew Pow-Wow & its partners will not be held liable for any loss, stolen or damaged goods, or for bodily injury or adverse reactions to the products sold as this events.

TICKETS


Do dancers, drummers, and other competitors have to pay to get in?

NO! ALL COMPETITORS ARE FREE OF CHARGE WITH REGISTRATION. Registration will be through iCreeAzn.

My child is registering as a competitor, do I have to pay to get in?

All child and youth participants will get free admission for themselves, as well as free admission for one guardian each.

I am non-Indigenous, am I able to attend this event as a spectator?

Yes! You do not have to be Indigenous to attend this event! This pow-wow is open to everyone to attend. Please come and become immersed in the culture! We will also have a full Indigenous vendors market that everyone is welcome to shop at as well!

I am registered as a volunteer, do I need a ticket?

You do not need a ticket as a volunteer for the days in which you are set to volunteer for. More details are in the volunteer section of this FAQs page.

VENDORS


Are vendors full? Can I still apply to be a vendor?
Our vendor call and applications for 2023 will open soon. If you’d like on the email list, please email vendors@stalewpowwow.ca

Do vendors also need to buy a ticket for the pow-wow?
No. As a confirmed, paid vendor, you do not need to purchase a ticket for the pow-wow! You will get a wristband with free access to all of the pow-wow!

VOLUNTEERS


Can I volunteer? How do I register to be a volunteer?

Yes! We need volunteers! Please go to our volunteers page HERE and proceed to registration.

If I’ve registered to volunteer, do I have to pay for a ticket for that day?

Volunteers get free admission for the day(s) in which they have volunteered to register for. You will get a t-shirt and a wrist band that will designate you as a volunteer. You will only get free admission for the day(s) in which you volunteer, your non-volunteer days will require a ticket.
